SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office took home several awards recently during the 17th annual Governor’s Challenge Awards program hosted by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety at the Hyatt Regency in Savannah. A total of 23 different law enforcement agencies were honored.
The event is an annual recognition program for statewide law enforcement agencies of all sizes. The program features awards in seven different categories based on department size as well as several other specialty categories.

Other nearby agencies also took home awards. Gainesville Police Department won for Occupant Protection and placed second in Category 5 with 101-250 officers. Alpharetta Department of Public Safety was third for Category 5. Hall County Sheriff’s Office was first for Category 6 of 251-500 deputies.
